Dr. Amro N. Khasawneh
Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering
Dr. Khasawneh joined Mercer as an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering in 2022. Prior joining Mercer, Dr. Khasawneh was a faculty member at the Department of Radiation Oncology at University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill and a Research Fellow at the Armstrong Institute at Johns Hopkins University. He taught several courses that range from Introduction to Systems Design to a variety of graduate level courses such as Human Factors Applications in Healthcare.
Dr. Khasawneh’s research focuses on using both qualitative and quantitative research methods to improve patient safety as well as patient engagement. His other research interests are modeling online behavior and decision-making, applying human factors design principles to teleoperated human-machine systems, and Virtual Reality (VR) training. Dr. Khasawneh has published more than 30 articles in several peer-reviewed journals and conferences such as JMIR, Human Factors, and Automation in Construction.
